Darryl F. Emerson

Darryl F. Emerson, 62, of Cavalier, ND passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at his home, after a lengthy battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 3rd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier. Burial will be held in the Cavalier Cemetery.
Darryl was born April 13, 1951, to John G. and Betty Ann (Cummins) Emerson. He grew up in the Pembina area and was baptized and confirmed at the Joliette Methodist Church. After graduating from Pembina High School he attended the North Dakota State School of Science at Wahpeton. He served in the National Guard and then attended aeronautics school in Florida. Upon completion of his schooling in Florida, he flew his airplane to Alaska. While in Alaska, he worked in the oilfields and landscaping business. There he met his future wife Donna Liljefors and they were married on November 19, 1983, in Bronx, New York. After their marriage they moved back to the Pembina area where he did custom harvesting for 20 years. Later he operated a trucking and custom fertilizer business.
He was very proud of his children, enjoyed family time and his dogs, Bailey, Holly, and Bella. In his pastime he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, the outdoors, and was a NASCAR racing fan.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; children: Grant Emerson, Cavalier ,Kayla Emerson, Nashville, TN; mother, Betty Emerson, Hallock, MN; brothers: Donald (Gwen) Emerson, Pembina, David Emerson, Drayton, ND; mother-in-law, Margie Liljefors, Charlotte, NC; sisters-in-law: Karen Roode, Charlotte, NC, Janet (Bob) Edsell, Denver, NC, Nancy (Dan) Wanek, Glen, NH; brother-in-law, Bob Liljefors, Denver, NC; nieces and nephews: Tammy, Melanie, John, Shawn, Brian, and Allison.
Preceding him in death was his father, John and infant daughter, Jennifer.
