Darlene Mikkelsen

Darlene Mikkelsen, 66, passed away at Valley Medical Center in SeaTac, Washington, on February 22, 2025.

Darlene (Dar) was born March 9, 1958, in Langdon, ND, to Gerald and Marjorie (Dickhausen) Mikkelsen. She grew up in Langdon and graduated from Langdon High School in 1976. She continued her education at the University of North Dakota, receiving a degree in occupational therapy. In 1986, she moved to Seattle, Washington, where she lived until her passing. Dar worked as an OT with pediatric patients, and they all had a special place in her heart. She also enjoyed cheering on the Seattle Mariners and Seattle Seahawks.

Dar especially loved coming back to Langdon for a week at Christmas and a week in the summer. She always looked forward to watching her 10 nieces and nephews, whom she loved like her own. While living in Washington, Dar’s Uncle Melford and Aunt Norma Mikkelsen and their children were like a second family to her. She spent many gatherings with them.

Darlene is survived by her brother, Kerry (Mavis) Mikkelsen; sisters: Kathy Borgen, Debra Shuga, and Geralyn Klevgaard; nieces: Karmen (Mark) Evans, Kristen (Kent) Guderjahn, Lindsey (Todd) Tescher, Kellee Borgen, Koree (Chris) Hoffman; nephews: Kyle (Heather) Mikkelsen, Evan Mikkelsen, and Grant, Mason & Gavin Klevgaard; eight great-nieces; 10 great-nephews; and her service dog and best friend, Monet. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, great-nephew Jackson, and her beloved dogs Brangwegn and Josee.

A service will be held in the spring/summer.
