Dana DeMaine

Dana Keith DeMaine 63, Mesa, Arizona passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the Select Hospital, Phoenix, AZ after a long health struggle. Memorial service will be held Friday, June 23, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial will be held at the St. Anthony's Cemetery, Bathgate, ND.

Dana was born April 6, 1954 and joined his parents Albert & Elsie DeMaine on their farm in Lakota, ND. He attended a one room school house in his early years of school. He then attended school in Grand Forks, graduating from Grand Forks Central High School in 1972. He married Vicki Spicer in 1974, and they had one daughter Jennifer Nicole.

Dana was ambitious and worked many jobs but spent a good portion of time at the Larimore Dairy Queen. He then worked at the Coca Cola company in Grand Forks. In 1982, he had a tragic accident that left him a paraplegic.

In 1987, he moved to Arizona, to avoid the North Dakota winter's. Arizona climate made him flourish and he did so for many years. Dana enjoyed doing wood crafts, playing cards and board games with friends and family. He was an excellent canasta and domino player. He also enjoyed entertaining guests for dinner with games to follow up the evening. Dana loved company and taking family and friends around Arizona to show them the various sites.

For many years he maintained his health and enjoyed retirement. The last year was very tough for Dana medically. Dana was in the Hospital from December 16th until his passing.

Dana is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Gregory) Huber; three grandchildren: Makenna, Landon and Anna Huber Saint Michael, Minnesota; Special cousins: Jack (Betty) DeMaine, Dilworth, MN; Judy (Leonard) Iten, Fargo, ND; Crystal (Nick) Volk, Pembina, ND; Glen (Judy) Winter, Fargo, ND; and Best Friend Robert Buckman, Mesa AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Matthew Sharp; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
