Dale Uhrich, 56, of Langdon, ND and formerly of Wales, ND, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.
Dale, along with his twin brother Daryl, were born to Gibson Stephen and Rita Marie (Hiltner) Uhrich on August 8, 1956, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Langdon, ND. Dale grew up in Wales, ND where he attended elementary school. He went on to graduate from Langdon High School. During his senior year, Dale took part in a co-op program which enabled him to adjust his school schedule and work at Cavalier Rural Electric in the afternoons. After graduation, Dale worked for area farmers. On November 15, 1974, he began his lifelong career with Cavalier Rural Electric. After completing a few correspondence courses from the NDSCS in Wahpeton, he applied and passed the Class B State Electrical Examination. He went on to achieve his Journeyman’s license and his Master’s.
Dale was united in marriage to Kathy Thompson on December 19, 1981 at St. Michael’s Church in Wales, ND. They welcomed a daughter, Sara, and a son, Ryne. Dale was a hard worker, and kept busy in the evenings and weekends wiring for area residents. He was known for taking the time to do the job right and for coming up with solutions to wiring dilemmas. Dale enjoyed restoring old vehicles and bringing them to car shows. Dale was known for his talent as a poet. He wrote many poems for the important people and places in his life. Dale enjoyed camping with his family and friends. He was a story teller, and many were able to enjoy the stories he shared about his life, his work and his family. He was very proud of his family, and his care for them and his pride in their personalities and accomplishments shone through when he talked of them.
Dale is survived by his wife, Kathy, of Langdon, ND; children: Sara, currently a student at UND in Grand Forks, and Ryne; his mother, Rita, of Langdon, ND; siblings: Salene “Sally” (Dwayne) Kram, Daryl, and Jeanne (Robert); numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Marjorie Thompson, of Langdon, ND and brother-in-law Kurt Thompson of Fargo, ND.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gib.
VISITATION will take place on Friday, December 20, 2012, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.
PRAYER SERVICE 7:00 pm on Friday, December 20, 2012 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.
SERVICES Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 10:30am at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon.
