Clemens Rude

Clemens Rude, 73, of Langdon, ND passed away December 27, 2007.

Clemens Richard Rude was born October 14, 1934 in Loam Township, Cavalier County to Olaf M. and Geneva (Prescott) Rude. He grew up in Loam Township and graduated from Langdon High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1955 to November 1957. Clemens married Michele Jacob of Paris, France on August 13, 1957. They returned to Loam Township where Clemens was able to purchase the Clyde Theilbar farm. They became the parents of three children: Eric, Mark and Carolyn. For a time Clemens rented out his farm land and moved to California with his family. Clemens and Michele were divorced in 1967 and he returned to farming in North Dakota. The children remained with their mother and grew up in the Los Angeles area. Clemens marred Jean Varnell on January 1, 1971 while he was visiting in Georgia. They returned to the farm in North Dakota in April 1971 and have remained there until 1991 when they moved into Langdon. Jean had four children from a previous marriage: Dorothy, Marie, Laurie and James.

He is survived by his son Eric Rude of California, daughter Carolyn (Tom) Chadwick of California, grandchildren: Joshua, Tiffany (Steve) Mastin, Jacqueline Rude and Amanda Rude, brother Walter (Lorraine) Rude of Langdon, step children Marie, Laurie and James, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Mark, wife Jean, and step-daughter Dorothy brother Leslie, sisters Anna Mae Olson and Karen Gellner.

VISITATION will be held beginning at 4 pm with a 7pm prayer service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND. Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of the service at the church on Monday.

SERVICES Monday December 31, 2007 at 2:00pm at the United Lutheran church of Langdon, ND.

INTERMENT South Pembina Cemetery, Rural Langdon, ND
