Clarence L. Wimpfheimer age 90, of Cavalier, ND, died on Tuesday, September 11, 2007, at Merit Care Hospital, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation on Friday, September 14th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery.
Clarence L. Wimpfheimer was born May 7, 1917, at Drayton, ND to Karl and Katherine Wimpfheimer. He spent his early years at Pembina and Backoo, ND, the family then moved to the Cavalier area, where he attended school. In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and trained in Tennessee and Kentucky. During World War II, he served as a cook with the Thunderbolt Division and in 1944, was in the European Theatre in Normandy. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to the Cavalier area. Clarence enjoyed farming, raising cattle, and had a livestock hauling business with his brothers. He loved all types of animals, old time fiddle music, and children.
He is survived by siblings, Stanley Wimpfheimer, Cavalier, ND; Frances Brady, Nebo, MO; and Virginia Wimpfheimer, Cavalier, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sadie Wimpfheimer, Gladys Bailles, Edna Reopelle, and Irene Willard; brothers, Charlie, Harold, and Ben Wimpfheimer.
Military Rites by Lavern J. Thompson Post #11, Cavalier American Legion.
Clergy: Rev. Beth Peterson.
Casket Bearers: Larry DuBois, Monty Heller, Bill Wimpfheimer, Ron Wimpfheimer, Jim Wznick, and Tanner Wznick.
Honorary Pallbearers: Richard Brown, Neil Fleming, Gerald Kemnitz, Bob Olson, Ted Schroeder, David Thomasson, Charles Wimpfheimer, and all his nieces, nephews, and friends.
