Clarence Bredeson

Clarence "Bert" Bredeson, 89, of rural Nekoma, passed away Friday, September 13, 2013, at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.



Clarence Gilbert Bredeson was born September 7, 1924, to Clarence and Esther (Ellis) Bredeson at home in Highland Township. He was educated in Nekoma, where he graduated from Nekoma High School. Clarence "Bert" and Gladys (Gronhovd) were united in marriage on November 23, 1952, at Nekoma Lutheran Church. They made their home with Bert's folks until January 1955, when they moved into their new home, which was built by Bert. They became the loving parents of seven children. Bert served as Township Supervisor for Highland Center for 30 years. He was a member of the Nekoma School Board, and drove school bus for years. Bert was a member of Nekoma Lutheran, where he served as Trustee. Bert and Gladys began square dancing in 1978, and enjoyed dancing for many years. They enjoyed being winter Texans for 19 years. Bert was a lifelong farmer.



Bert is survived by his wife Gladys; children: Tim (Grace) Bredeson of rural Fairdale, ND, Terry (Patti) Bredeson of Rural Nekoma, ND, Tom (Tamera) Bredeson of Fairdale, ND, Kathy (Randy) Good of Finley, ND, Holly (Larry) Gratz of Plymouth, MN, Becky (Dean) Mathiason of Grafton, ND, and Julie (Darin) Myrvik of Grand Forks; grandchildren: Casey (Michelle) Bredeson, Luke (Grace) Bredeson along with great-grandchildren Josiah and Sophia, Kent (Monica) Bredeson, Chris (Stevie) Bredeson, Lindsey (Kraig) Gellner along with great- grandchildren Olivia, Blake and Alex, Jenna Bredeson, Jacob Bredeson, Zack Bredeson, Travis Good, Tyler Good, Tanner Good, Andrea Gratz, Rachel Gratz, Mitchell Gratz, Brittany Kornkven, Ashley Mathiason (Ryan Eng) along with great-grandchild Mason, and Reilly Mathiason, Morgan Myrvik, and Paige Myrvik; sisters: Fern Englund of Coon Rapids, MN, Hazel Rick of Coon Rapids, MN, Ella Verke of Fairdale, ND, and numerous nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law Mari Lange.



VISITATION will be held on Monday, September, 16, 2013, beginning at 5pm with a 7pm prayer service, all at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon. Visitation will also be held for one hour before the time of the services at the church on Tuesday.



SERVICES will be Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at 10:00am, at the Nekoma Lutheran Church of Nekoma, ND.



INTERMENT Nekoma Lutheran Cemetery, Nekoma, ND.
