Cindy Hartje

     Cynthia L. “Cindy” Hartje, 66, of Cavalier, ND passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020 at her home. A private service will be held at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural St. Thomas, ND. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.  Social distancing and masks are recommended. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

     Cindy was born July 17, 1954 at Cavalier, ND to Jacob and Isabel (Mozinski) Dietrich. She grew up in the St. Thomas, ND area and graduated from St. Thomas High School. After attending Lab and X-Ray Tech School in Minneapolis, she returned to the area where she worked at the Cavalier Clinic for 42 years.

     She enjoyed the outdoors, landscaping, gardening, and tending her flower beds. Camping and fishing were other things she enjoyed.

     On July 27, 1974, she married Michael Hartje in Cavalier, ND. He survives as do her sons: Jeremy (Angela) Hartje, Fargo, ND and Chad (Eunhye) Hartje, Bonney Lake, WA; grandchildren: Morgan and Tristan; James and Isabella. Also surviving are her siblings: Margaret (Harvey) Smith, Esther Fisher, Joan (Tom) Eidsvold, Diane (Herb) VanSickle, Robert (Mona) Dietrich, Dennis (Linda) Dietrich; sister-in-law, Mary Dietrich.

    Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, Donald Dietrich and brother-in-law, Robert Fisher.
