Christine Herzog

Christine Herzog, age 97, of Cavalier, ND died Saturday May 30, 2009 at Wedgewood Manor.
Christine was born on February 9, 1912, to Sigurose and Sigurgeir Stefanson . She grew up in the Cavalier area and graduated from Cavalier High School in 1930. She attended the University of North Dakota and graduated in 1934, with a degree in English. She taught at St. Thomas High School, in various rural schools and was a tutor for high school students for many years in Cavalier.
On December 25, 1945, she married Gottlieb (Pinky) Herzog of Neche, ND. They made their home in Cavalier. Gottlieb (Pinky) Herzog passed away on November 20, 1996.
Christine was an active member of United Lutheran Church in Cavalier. She taught Sunday school for many years and she was active in church women.
She is survived by three children; Signe Muotka, Spokane, Washington, Jewell (Mrs. Harry) Miskavige, Grand Forks, ND, and Stefan Herzog, Mountain, ND. She is also survived by four grand children; Laura (Mrs. Karl) Goehring, Jon Miskavige and Tom Miskavige all of Grand forks, Heidi (Mrs.Cole) Huff of Spokane, WA., and three great grandchildren, Halle and Lily Goehring and Haleigh Huff.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Elias, Sigmundur, Eric, Hal, and Skuli, and one sister Sigrid.
A memorial service will be held at United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. on Friday, June 5th at 2:00. Burial will be in the Cavalier Cemetery.
