Charles Belanus, 84, of Walhalla, ND passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011, at 3:30 p.m. at the Walhalla Lutheran Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla.
Charles was born June 28, 1927, near Walhalla, ND to William and Jennie (Bartholomew) Belanus. He attended the Coburn Country School. Charlie farmed and raised dairy cattle in the Walhalla area his entire life. Woodworking, flying his airplane, and target shooting with his kids and grandkids were things he enjoyed. Charlie had a love of animals, especially cats, he also had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed storytelling. He was also a member of the St. Peter's Episcopal Church, National Rifle Association and a great Amercian.
On January 20, 1950, he married Hilda Dyck at Winnipeg, Manitoba. Hilda passed away on December 11, 2009.
Survivors include his children: Charles Belanus, Galesburg, ND, Rita (Daryl) Eckes, Devils Lake, ND, Emily Belanus, Litchfield, MN, Nancy Belanus, Minneapolis, MN, and Andrea Belanus, Bloomington, MN; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters: Jessie (Leonard) Urlaub, Walhalla and Leona (Howard) McMurray, New Hope, MN.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; grandson, William; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Belanus; and siblings: Mary Blair, Robert Belanus, and Nellie Proskurnik.
Clergy: The Reverend Elsie Magnus.
Honorary Pallbearers: MikeBelanus, Jim Belanus, Gary and Patty Dearinger, Curt and Tery Olson.
Casket Bearers: Darren Eckes, Cody Eckes, Dwane Eckes, Colt Morden, Kent Morden, Jody Belanus, Bonnie Belanus, and Naysha Belanus.
Music: Sharon Carpenter, Organist and Tery Olson, Soloist.
