Cecil A. Nowatzki age 80, of Cavalier, ND died on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 14, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 13th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial in the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Cemetery. Military rites by Lavern J. Thompson Post #11, Cavalier American Legion.
Cecil A Nowatzki was born May 14, 1930, at Cavalier, ND to Hugo and Gertrude (Johnson) Nowatzki. He grew up and attended school in Cavalier. He worked in the grocery business and at Leevers Foods as dairy manager for 34 years, retiring on July 10, 2009. Cecil was a member of the North Dakota National Guard, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
On August 25, 1954, he married Leona B. Schwartz at Cavalier, ND.
Survivors include his wife, Leona; sons, James Nowatzki, Grand Forks, ND, Duane Nowatzki, Cavalier, ND, and Kevin (Paula) Nowatzki, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Allison and Wyatt Nowatzki; brothers, Charles Nowatzki, Bakersfield, CA and Delbert Nowatzki, Brainerd, MN; sisters Mary (Vincent J.) Sauve, Duluth, MN and Mildred Snell, Cavalier ND.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sons, Anthony and David Nowatzki; four brothers and three sisters.
