Cecil Moe, 88, of Cavalier, ND passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, June 24th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be held in the Cavalier Cemetery.
Cecil was born March 15, 1925, at Grafton, ND to Leif and Julia (Olson) Moe. He grew up in the Grafton area, where he attended country school. Cecil served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge from the service in 1946, he went to work for Mayo Construction, working for them until his semi-retirement when he was in his 70's. He also worked for Thorlakson Construction in Cavalier.
He was a member of the Cavalier American Legion, D.A.V., and the United Lutheran Church. Activities he enjoyed were golfing, curling, traveling, and dancing.
On October 24, 1949, he married Erma M. Chapman at Glasston, ND. They renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary. Erma passed away on November 25, 2002.
Survivors include his children: Cynthia Moe, Cavalier, Tami (Mark) Briese, St. Thomas, ND, Teri Moe, Cavalier, Wayne (Jody) Moe, Cavalier; grandchildren: Brandon (Amy) Briese, Joshua ( Katie) Briese, Megan (Eric) Briese; Jorden Moe; Cody Lindenberger and Levi Moe; great grandchildren, Haley and Ali Briese; brothers: Leo (Delores) Moe, Great Falls, MT and Robert (Shirley) Moe, Perham, MN.
Also preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Lucille Sampson.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Altru Hospice, his caregivers: Allysa Nelson, Tammy Thorlakson, Lisa Byron, Jayme McDonald, and Michelle Lorenzen.
