Catherine Beyer

Catherine E. Beyer, age 80, of Hamilton, ND died Monday, January 3, 2011, at Valley Eldercare, Grand Forks, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in the Pembina County Historical Area across from the Icelandic State Park, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Cemetery, Cavalier.
Catherine was born September 21, 1930, at Crosby, ND to Bernard and Elizabeth (Bachmier) Elsbernd.
On July 15, 1950, she married Arnold L. Beyer at Cavalier. After their marriage they farmed near Hamilton, ND for many years. Catherine took an active role on the farm and was proud of the fact she could run the combine as well as other farm machinery. Her family was the most important part of her life.
She was active in the St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Altar Society, volunteered at the Pembina County Heritage Society, served on the Carlisle Township Board and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children: Karen (Robert) Shafer, Bemidji, MN, Yvonne (Scott) Jackson, Mebane, NC, Mavis (Ron) Johnson, Seneca, KS, and Richard (Sonya) Beyer, Grafton, ND; grandchildren: Charlette, Christopher, Rana Kaye, Ariel, Jay, Jon, Aleece, Michelle, Heather, and Wyatt; great grandchildren: William, Lauren, Jameson, Evelyn, and Noah; sisters: Marie Granrud, Bismarck, ND and Olivia (Bill) Brown, Silver Springs, FL.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Arnold on November 8, 2008; and brothers: Leo and Roger Elsbernd.
