Carol Ann Voecks, 64, of Hamilton, ND passed away Friday, October 25, 2013, at her home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Our Savior Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, October 28th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial will be held in the Hamilton Cemetery.
Carol was born August 14, 1949, at Grafton, ND to Roy and Edna Mae (Snider) Furstenau. She grew up in the Hensel area where she attended country school, Hensel Elementary School, and Cavalier Public School.
On July 3, 1966, she married Vic A. Voecks at Cavalier. After their marriage they lived on and operated the family farm. Shortly thereafter she devoted her life to caring for Vic, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She also worked at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in various departments. After her children were grown she attended Wahpeton State School of Science and earned her L.P.N. Carol then pursued her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of North Dakota, graduating in 1991. As a nurse, she worked in Cavalier, Osnabrock, Walhalla, and in home health in the Pembina County area. While nursing at Pembina County Memorial Hospital, she served as Director of Nursing and on the hospital board.
Activities she enjoyed were sewing, gardening, being a Sunday School teacher, being active in the church, and volunteering at the chapel at the State School in Grafton. Baking pies were her specialty.
Survivors include her husband, Vic; children: Kristy Voecks, Minot, ND and Darin Voecks, Paynesville, MN; granddaughter, Abbey Voecks; mother, Edna Furstenau, Cavalier; brothers: Garnet (Kaye) and Roger, all of Cavalier, Jeff (Pam), Lake Park, MN; and also her nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her father, Roy Furstenau.
