Carol Blair Christie, 78, of Langdon passed away January 8, 2013, at Cavalier County Memorial Hospital.
Carol Blair Starratt was born April 9, 1934, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada to Annie Dorothy (Calhoun) Starratt and William Blair Starratt. She grew up in Kenora, Ontario and was educated in Kenora and Winnipeg, Manitoba schools. She taught school in Winnipeg until she married Gene Christie November 26, 1955 in Kenora, making her home in Langdon, North Dakota.
Carol was a member of the United Methodist Church, where for many years she taught Sunday School, Bible School, was involved with Junior Choir, sang in the Senior Choir, and served on the Bishopââ¬â¢s Drug and Alcohol Committee. As an active community member, she assisted in organizing Langdonââ¬â¢s first Brownie Troop and served as co-leader. Carol was a substitute teacher, Picture Lady volunteer, and was involved in the formation and execution of the Langdon Area Drug and Alcohol Task Force and graduation parties.
Summers were spent on Coney Island, Lake of the Woods, Ontario, enjoying the company of her family, childhood friends, and her dogs. In later years she accompanied her children as they all traveled extensively.
Carol is survived by her children: Dawn (Thomas) Beckley of Muscatine, Iowa, Catherine of Sarasota, Florida; and Blair (Emily) and grandchildren Sophia and Samuel of Edina, Minnesota; sister Sandra Cribbin of Dundas, Ontario; sister-in law Mary Benedict of Jacksonville, Illinois; three nieces and four nephews.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and brothers-in-law, Stephen Cribbin and Phillip Hain, and sister-in-law Carol Christie Hain.
A memorial service is planned during the summer in Langdon. Interment will be at Lake of the Woods Cemetery, Kenora, Ontario.
