Calvin L. Forbes, age 88, of Fargo, ND and formerly of Pembina, ND, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at the Bethany Retirement Living Center in Fargo, ND. Funeral Service will be held Monday, July, 18, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the Pembina Evangelical Free Church, Pembina, ND.
Calvin Lee Forbes was born on October 15, 1922 at Perth, ND to John and Jessie Forbes. On February 25, 1942, he married Loretta M. Margerum at Hallock, MN. They resided in Pembina until 2005 when they moved to Fargo.
He served with the US Army in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He owned and operated Cal's Junction Service Station for 35 years until his retirement in 1987.
He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. Calvin was active in numerous community and church activities. He enjoyed many rounds of golf with family and friends. His favorite pastime was planting and caring for his garden with a special fondness for his large rose garden. He held a special place in his heart for each of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Don (Lynda) Forbes of St. Cloud, MN; Bonnie "Susi" (Richard) Turner of Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings: George Forbes and Percy Forbes of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Robert (Rose) Forbes of British Columbia.
Preceding him in death were his wife Loretta of 67 years, parents, son Robert Allen, and brothers Lewis and Charles Forbes.

Honorary Pallbearers: Earl Wyman and Al Meagher.
Casket Bearers: Sandra Forbes, Steven Forbes, John Turner, Mishelle Forbes, Holly Forbes Rucinski, James Turner, Alicia Forbes Cain, and Julie Sieg.
