Butch Thomasson

Gunnar S. “Butch” Thomassson, 70, of Cavalier, ND passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 19th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial will be held in the Andvari Cemetery, Cavalier, ND.

Gunnar S. “Butch” Thomasson was born November 23, 1943, near Cavalier, ND to Gunnar and Nancy (Grover) Thomasson. He grew up in the Cavalier area. Butch lived in Duluth, MN where he worked as a tuck pointer as his trade. For the past 10 years he has resided near Cavalier. Thing he enjoyed were hunting, fishing, and his dog, Duke.

Survivors include his son, Mark Thomasson, Stillwater, MN; stepchildren: Terry Cone, Superior, WI, Colleen Foley, Doreen Graves, and Loreen Weaver, all of Duluth, MN; several grandchildren; siblings: Carol (Howard) Puppe, Buckley, WA, Ida (Arnold) McLeod, Hewitt, MN, Kenneth Thomasson, Moorhead, MN, Ralph (Judy) Thomasson, William Thomasson, Alvin Thomasson, all of Cavalier, Gloria (Kenneth) Bullock, Wadena,MN, Richard (Diane) Thomasson, David (Betty) Thomasson, all of Cavalier.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, John “Jack” Thomasson.
