Bonnie Jeanne (Berntson) Carlson, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, died Wednesday, March 15 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Bonnie was born July 5th, 1946 in Devils Lake, North Dakota to Gertrude and Leonard Berntson. Bonnie attended Prospect Country School until it closed in 1957. She then went on to graduate from the Edmore public school system in 1964. She attended Mayville State University for a short while before moving to Grand Forks in 1967 where she worked for Dr. King Chiropractic. In 1969 she moved to Langdon, North Dakota where she worked for Dr. Terry Lorenz until 1979 when she began working for Metropolitan Bank, now known as U.S. Bank. She continued to work for U.S Bank until last year.
Bonnie was united in marriage to Alvin Carlson on November 25, 1972. Bonnie and Alvin remained happily married in Langdon until the time of her death.
They raised two children together (Amy and Justin) and nothing was more important or brought more joy to Bonnie than time spent with her family.
Bonnie was known within the community for her kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness. She had a love for many of lifeââ¬â¢s little joys like baking.
As her children grew older and moved away from home there was not often a time that they left after a weekends visit without homemade buns or sweets to take with them. Bonnie also loved attending local sporting events. She especially loved to watch Justin and Amy in whatever sporting endeavor they were partaking in at the time. Bonnie had a love for life that was undeniable.
Bonnie is survived by her husband Alvin; daughter Amy (Shawn) Gaddie, Grand Forks, ND; son Justin Carlson, Wahpeton, ND; granddaughter Hope Jeanne Gaddie of Grand Forks, ND; sister Linda Berntson, Edmore, ND; mother Gertrude Berntson, Edmore, ND; and her very special friend Roman Michels.
