Betty E. Monette, age 81, of Pembina, ND. died on Friday, August 5, 2005, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. She was surrounded by her family.
Betty Johnson was born June 8, 1924,at Park Center, near Neche, ND to Herbert and Ella (Whidden) Johnson. She grew up and attended school in the Neche area and graduated from Neche High School in 1942.
On May 26, 1948, she married John Monette at Pembina, ND. They lived their entire lives together in Pembina until retiring to the Pembilier Nursing Center in Walhalla, ND.
Betty worked at the telephone office in Pembina, the Pembina Post Office, KCND television station, Motor Coach Industries and Exports, Inc. She was a member of the Pembina American Legion Auxiliary, an active member of Assumption Catholic Church and an avid supporter of all Pembina School functions.
Betty is survived by her husband, John; children, Beverly (Tom ) Burke, Pembina, ND; Shirley (Donald) Anderson, Harwood, ND; Bob (Jill) Monette, Athens, GA; Ron (Peggy) Monette, Pembina, ND; Herb (Evalinda) Monette, Weslaco, TX; Harold Monette, Blaine, WA; Judy (Lynn) Schroeder, Cavalier, ND. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, six great- grandchildren and two brothers, John C. (Marlene) Johnson, Pembina, ND and Ronald "Bud" Johnson, Hope, AK.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 9, at 10:00 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church, Pembina, ND, with burial in the Pembina Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 8, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Assumption Catholic Church.
