Betty Laturnus

Betty Laturnus, 77, of Langdon, ND passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at her home.

Betty was born August 5, 1938 in Langdon, ND to Charles and Barbara (Lill) Padden. She grew up in the Loma area and graduated from St. Alphonsus in 1956. She then continued her education at Valley City State Teacher’s College and received her teaching degree. She taught at North Loma for two years then moved to Devils Lake where she worked in the accounting and payroll department at Mercy Hospital. Betty married George Laturnus in October of 1970, and they farmed near Munich. She was very active on the farm- mowing the yard, hauling grain, and working the fields. In 2000, Betty moved to Langdon where she currently resided.

Betty loved to garden and do anything outdoors. She enjoyed flowers of many kinds, visiting with her friends and family, and reading was a favorite pastime. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon.

Surviving Betty are her sister, Bonnie (Edward) Laturnus, of Munich; niece Lisa (Mark) Dalquist; nephew Ken (Donna) Laturnus; and aunts: Ethel Lill and Marlene Lill. She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; uncles: Ed, Art, Ernie, Johnny, and Rob; aunts: Ann, Leona, and Jenny; cousin Leona and many other cousins and relatives.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 5-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Friday.
