Betty Howatt, 82, of Langdon, ND passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at her home at Wheatland Estates in Langdon surrounded by her loving family.

Betty Jane Martineau was born September 18, 1934 in Leroy, ND to Eugene & Eleanore (Carignan) Martineau. She attended school in Leroy for a short time then attended country school. On September 12, 1953, Betty married Stewart Howatt in Langdon. They made their home near Maida where they farmed and raised their five children. Betty & Stewart moved to Langdon in the mid-1990s.

Betty loved baking, quilting, and gardening, especially tending to her flowers. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Betty was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Church in Langdon and was a member of their serving group.

Betty is survived by her children: Terry (Carla) Howatt of Langdon, Lynn Howatt of Idaho, Brian Howatt of Washington, Denise Howatt of Virginia, and Robin (Scott) Shrock of Washington; grandchildren: Katrina, Micah, Joshua, Chelsey, Whitney, Dakota, Jacqueline, Scot, & Zack; great-grandchildren: Treycen, Brynlee, Dillon, Jaxson, Hendrix & Austyn; brothers: Raoul, Raymond, and Louis (Connie); sister Marleen Siewert; and daughter-in-law Tracy. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stewart, sister Luella Petrak, brother Frank Martineau, and sister-in-law Agnes Martineau.

A memorial service for Betty will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Emmanuel Evangelical Church in Langdon with visitation starting one hour before the time of the service.
