Betty Christianson

Betty Jean Christianson, 73, of Langdon, ND, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.

Betty was born January 7, 1941, in Langdon, ND, to Edgar and Bessie (McKinney) Long. She attended school in Harvey Centre and Hannah, ND. Betty was united in marriage to Clifford Christianson on August 21, 1958 at the United Lutheran Church of Langdon, ND. They began their married years on a farm near Hampden, ND. About 7 years later they moved to Langdon where they would raise their family of six children. Betty began work at the MSR site in Nekoma, ND in the early 1970s. She eventually transferred to the Cavalier Air Station until her retirement in 2009. Through her years of caring for the Missile Site and Air Station, she had many duties, but she especially loved to paint and spend time with her co-workers. Betty was an avid gardener and enjoyed canning. She especially loved sharing her garden goods with her family. Betty loved to plan and have picnics. She would spend days preparing the food for the picnic, and her chicken was always a highlight. Betty had a soft spot for her pets and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. When she was a guest at someone’s house, she came with her arms full of food. Betty especially enjoyed Sundays, when she would enjoy a great meal and then settle in to watch NASCAR. She loved to go to auction sales and spend time with her family. Clifford passed away in 2003, and Betty fought a courageous battle with cancer.

Betty is survived by her children: Wayne (Darlene) of Lankin, ND, Dean (Bonnie) of Langdon, ND, Sonia Malsom of Aberdeen, SD, Glenn of Lakota, ND, Sylvia (Tom) Klein of Minot, ND, Susan of Langdon, ND; grandchildren: Jason, Aaron, & Michael Christianson, Justin, Bailey, & Kami Kay Christianson, Spencer & Natalie Malsom, Rosellen & Nigel Christianson, Christian Klein, and George Jr. & Jennifer Lepisto; her great-grandchildren; brothers: Gerald (Gloria) Long of Moorhead, MN & Marvin (Carol) Long of Sheridan, WY; and sister-in-law Margaret Long of Langdon, ND.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Donald and Robert, sister Mary Ann Porter, and son-in-law Timothy Malsom.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 9, 2014, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at the United Lutheran Church of Langdon, ND.

Interment: Lebanon Cemetery, Langdon, ND
