Bettie Lou was born June 24, 1952 to Norris and Betty (Jones) Barnes of Horseheads, NY.

She met her husband Curtis Stegman in Hamilton, ND while on tour as a pianist with the singing group called “Living Water”.

On June 26, 1982 they were joined together in marriage in the presence of God and witnesses. For 35 years 9 months, Bettie Lou showed daily, by example, what a godly wife is to her daughters, daughter-in-laws and grand-daughters.

Curtis and Bettie Lou loved children, they were blessed with 11 children, 5 by birth, 5 by adoption plus one adult foster son, and 17 grandchildren. Bettie Lou always had time for her kids, no matter what was going on Bettie Lou ( “Mama” or “Grandma”) made sure those around her knew they were loved, not by what she said, but how she lived. She was called “Grandma” by many children not even related. Her gracious and hospitable spirit was beautiful to behold.

She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing piano, going on dates with her husband, puzzles, taking care of her grand-kids and honorary grand-kids, and picnics, to name a few.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis Stegman and her children Ben (Heather) Stegman, Andrew (Lillian) Stegman, Timothy (Louisa) Stegman, Isaac (Sarah) Stegman, Rachel (Seth) Waddington, Justin Stegman, Anna (Jack) Veurink, Eric Stegman, Lance Stegman and foster son, Mike T.

17 grandkids Emily, Elise, Eliana, Audrey, Reuben, Caroline, Naomi, Nathan, Elena, Zachary, Anders, Edward, Abigail, Carl, Earl, Flora and baby due June 24th...all of whom Bettie Lou loved and cherished. Siblings Bonnie (Keith) Brink, and Samuel (Tina) Barnes.

She was met in heaven by her parents, daughter Sara Glory and several grandbabies. Her family celebrates her life and beautiful Christ-like example she left to each of us.
