Bernice Olson

Bernice Olson, age 84, of Cavalier, ND, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Wedgewood Manor Nursing Center in Cavalier. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Brigid's Catholic Church in Cavalier. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm with a visitation from 7:30 -8:30 pm also at the church. Burial will be at St. Brigid's Catholic Cemetery.
Bernice was born on in rural Walhalla, ND, on May 31, 1925 to Arthur and Mary Ellen (Fitzsimonds) O'Keeffe. She attended country school in rural Walhalla and graduated from St. James Academy in Grand Forks, ND. She married Ernest C. Olson on November 7, 1946 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Walhalla. Bernice worked at Sabuba Drug and Springcrest Draperies in Cavalier. She was an officer with the Altar Society for 30 years, and a member of the Legion Auxillary for 45 years. She enjoyed sewing and playing cards with friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Ernest, and grandson, Jerrod Ault.
Survivors include her children, Marilyn (Roger) Olafson of Edinburg, ND, Karen (Sam) Givand of Bathgate, ND, Kevin (ViAnn) Olson of Grand Forks, ND, Greg (Belinda) Olson of Hallock, MN, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, brother, Herman O'Keeffe of Walhalla, ND, sisters, Mildred Fraser of Walhalla, ND, and Eileen McPhillips of Coutts, Alberta.
Celebrant: Fr. Robert Pecotte, Organist: Larry Collins, Congregational Hymns: "In The Garden", "I Heard The Voice Of Jesus", "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", "Song Of Farwell", "I Know That My Redeemer Lives", Communion Meditation by the Bethlehem Community: "Ave Maria".
