Bernice D. Lee age 82, of Walhalla, ND died on Sunday, December 28, 2008, at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at the Walhalla-Park Center Presbyterian Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla, ND.
Bernice D. Williams was born December 30, 1925, the daughter of Alva and Matilda (Denny) Williams on the family farm in Lamoure Township of Pembina County. She attended Hilltop School in Lamoure Township for eight years and graduated from Walhalla High School in 1944.
On November 3, 1944, she married Oliver Thomas Lee, Sr. at the Presbyterian Manse in Langdon, ND, by Rev. Duncan Mathison. They lived on the family farm for 47 years in Freemont Township of Cavalier County. Oliver died on August 5, 1993. She later moved into Walhalla.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Walhalla where she served as Deacon, Order of the Eastern Star Walhalla Chapter #34 serving as Worthy Matron from 1989 -1991, as well as several other offices, Clerk for Freemont Township for many years.
Survived by her children, Donna (Glenn) McGlynn, Tehachapi, CA, Joyce (Gary) Romfo, Langdon, ND, Phyllis Tongen (Dean Horgan) , Oliver T. (Debbie) Lee, Jr, Bruce (Kim) Lee, all of Walhalla, ND, 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, siblings, Jean Norby, Duluth, MN and Bill Williams, Huron, SD.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, brothers, Amos, Lawrence, and Paul Williams, infant sister, Beatrice, sisters, Marcella Blaisdell, Florence Fraser, Martha Sigurdson, and Christine Phillips.
Clergy: Rev. Dann Pagler
Casket Bearers: Duane Blaisdell, Everett, Blaisdell, Garnet Fraser, Willard Fraser, and Jerry Williams.
Music: Jennifer Lee, Soloist and Sharon Carpenter, Organist.
