Arnold was born November 24, 1915 to Henry and Janetta (Baker) Lundeby on their farm one mile west of Osnabrock. He attended school in Osnabrock. He lived in the Osnabrock area all his life with the exception of six years when he worked for the Farmers Union Oil Company of Langdon. He was a truck driver delivering gas and oil during the years 1935 through 1940.
In 1941 Arnold began farming with his father. He moved to Osnabrock with his parents in 1945 when they purchased the former Leon Nelson residence. He continued farming with his father until Henry retired in 1956. He then farmed with his brothers, Marvin and Curtis, until 1968 when Curtis began farming for himself. Arnold and Marvin farmed together until 1976, at which time Arnold retired. He remembered well the years of drought and grasshoppers in the early 30ââ¬â¢s. Both crop yields and grain prices were very poor, and there was very little feed for the livestock.

Arnold served as Township Supervisor for many years and worked part-time for the Cavalier County ASCS in Langdon for a few years. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge No.22 of Osnabrock. He served in all offices including Chancellor Commander and was secretary for 12 years. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of the Knights of Pythias of North Dakota and was Grand Chancellor in 1969 for one year. He held all other offices except secretary and financial secretary. He served as Supreme Lodge Representative for North Dakota. Arnold was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 48 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Langdon, ND. He was a member of the Osnabrock area Historical Book Committee. Arnold was a member of Dovre Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He enjoyed spending time driving around the countryside, watching the crops mature and watching the machinery work.
