Arnold Girodat, 76, of Langdon, ND passed away Saturday April 28, 2007 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon.
Arnold F. Girodat was born April 20, 1931 at Mt. Carmel, ND to Peter and Hedwig (Benard) Girodat. He grew up and went to school in Mt. Carmel. Arn Entered the United States Army on January 17, 1952. He was Honorably Discharged at Ft. Lewis, Washington on January 16, 1954. He returned to the area were he was employed by Consolidated Steel Construction. Ethel Balsdon and Arnold were united in marriage in 1956 at Mt. Carmel, ND. They lived in Drayton, Hoople, Thief River, Wisconsin and Grand Forks before moving to Langdon where he and his brother Don eventually owned and operated Don and Arnââ¬â¢s Standard Station for more than two decades. He retired from the business in 1993 and was able to spend more time on his hobby of woodworking. Over the years he also worked for several area farmers including his brother-in-law Bill for seven years. Arn was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, the Langdon volunteer Fire Department and the American Legion Post #98.
Arn is survived by his wife Ethel of Langdon, children: Terry Girodat of Langdon, ND; Todd (Cindy) Girodat of Brooklyn Park, MN and Tracy Howatt of Liberty Lake, WA, grandchildren: Dain Girodat, Ryan Girodat, Oliver Girodat, Whitney Howatt, Dakotah Howatt, Ruby Girodat, Teryn Fetsch and Megan Girodat, great-granddaughter Isabella Fetsch, brothers and sisters: Don Girodat of Langdon; Glenn Girodat of Devils Lake, ND; Dorothy Kroetsch of Langdon, ND and Evelyn Schill of Langdon, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Charlie Peter Girodat.
VISITATION Tuesday May 1, 2007 beginning at 2:00pm with a 7:00pm Prayer Service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.
SERVICES Wednesday May 2, 2007 at 10:30am at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.
INTERMENT Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND.
