Arni D. Johnson

Arni D. Johnson, 88, of Cavalier, ND passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 29th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial will be held at the St. Ellen's Cemetery, rural Cavalier, ND. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Mountain Community Center.
Arni was born January 16, 1927, to Wilfred and Gudrun (Johannson) Johnson on the family farm, near Hallson, ND. He attended the Beaulieu Township School #6 and graduated from Cavalier High School. After serving in the U.S. Army, he returned to the Cavalier-Hallson area where he farmed. He was also a co-owner of the PAR Bar and active on various boards in the area. Things he enjoyed were playing cards, poker, and hunting.
On July 19, 1948, he married Dolores Gaffney at Cavalier and they were married for 62 years. Dolores passed away on February 3, 2011.
He is survived by his children: Holly (Larry) Puppe, Hensel, ND and Kelly (Jean) Johnson, Cavalier; grandchildren: Brian (Allison) Puppe, Edwards, CO, Megan Puppe, Fargo, ND, Evyn Johnson and Jarret Johnson, both of Cavalier, ND; great-grandchildren: August Puppe, and Benjamin Puppe; siblings: Stephan (Rita) Johnson, Martinez, CA, Patricia Kay (Robert) Olson, Glasston, ND, Ruth (Ken) Nielsen, Lindstrom, MN, Donald (Judy) Johnson, Cavalier.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; son, Dirk Johnson; grandson, Wade Puppe; siblings: W.B. Johnson, Jr. and Corliss Gudmundson.
