Arlie Overby, 82, of rural Langdon, ND passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND
Arlie was born October 11, 1928 at Wales, ND to Oscar and Esther (Halvorson) Overby. He moved to Numedahl, ND and attended the Fremont Township School. Arlie then moved to the Elkwood area and lived most of his life on the Overby family farm.
Arlie was an avid carpenter who did many projects for neighbors and was very busy with carpentry during the missile years. He loved to work with wood and made numerous horse drawn buggies. Also an avid horseman, Arlie could often be found spending his Sundayââ¬â¢s riding horse and buggy. He enjoyed working with leather and made harnesses, wallets and gloves. In his spare time he enjoyed reading and listening to the radio.
Arlie cared for his mother for several years on the farm until her death in the 1990s.
Arlie farmed his whole life, retiring in 1997. He lived on the family farm until 2005 until a house fire forced him to move to Northstar in Langdon for a few years. Arlie then moved to the Good Samaritan Center of Osnabrock due to ill health.
Arlie is survived by his sister Lavern of Montana and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
SERVICES will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at the Big Pembina Lutheran Church of rural Langdon, ND.
Visitation will be held for one hour before the time of the services at the church on Tuesday.
