Archibald Kipling Sillers

Archibald Kipling (Kip) Sillers, 93, of Langdon, ND and formerly of Calvin, ND passed away June 10, 2006 at the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.

He was born to Archie and Mabel (Tuttle) Sillers at Calvin, ND on May 7, 1913. He was raised in Calvin, graduating from Calvin High School in 1931 and went on to attend the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks where he graduated in 1935. He spent time during the depression working with the CCC building the Theodore Roosevelt National Park in Medora, ND. Kip was united in marriage to Bernice Schneider on May 31, 1941 in St. Paul, MN. He entered the United States Army serving overseas for three years during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Lt. Colonel on June 13, 1946. Upon Kip’s discharge he and Bernice made their home in Calvin where they farmed. In 1948 they moved to the home farm near Calvin and continued to farm until their retirement in 1975. They moved to Langdon in 1988. Kip and Bernice spent winters in Ft. Meyers Florida for 25 years. He was a member of the Cavalier County Draft Board and the Sarles American Legion.

Kip is survived by his children; Archie K. (Rayanne) Sillers of Marshall, MN, Cameron (Joan) Sillers of Langdon, ND, Patricia (Ron) Barta of Langdon, ND, and Mary Beth (Rory) Carda of Sidney, MT, grandchildren; Jason (Elizabeth) Sillers, Laura (Derrick) Jungling, Katherine Barta, David Barta, Erin Barta, Stephanie Wilson, Nathan (Tiffany) Sillers, Abby Carda, McKenzie Carda, Maggie Carda, great-grandchildren; Matthew Wilson, Trinity Wilson, Casey Wilson, Kate and Jane Sillers, brothers Douglas (Margaret) Sillers of Moorhead, MN and Colin (Wilhemina) Sillers of Alameda, CA,and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: will begin at 6:00pm Monday with a 7:00pm Prayer Service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.

SERVICES Tuesday June 13, 2006 at 10:30am at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.
