Anna Menke

Anna Menke age 84 of Neche, ND died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 28, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, Neche, ND. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Anna Zacharias was born August 18, 1924, in Rosenfeld, Manitoba to John and Maria (Deuck) Zacharias. After her schooling she moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba and did factory work.
On October 17, 1948, she married Phillip Menke at Christ Lutheran Church in Neche. They raised their family and farmed in the Neche area. Ann worked in the laundry at the Pioneer Rest Home in Bathgate and also in housekeeping at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier, ND. Phillip died on January 28, 1997, and Anne later moved to Fargo in 2004.
She is survived by her children, William Clifford Menke, Fargo, ND, Lynda Marie Cartier, Carmel, ME, Stephen Ross (Dee) Menke, Hettinger, ND, grandchildren, Joseph, Charles, and Brian Cartier, Chad Menke, and Jana Robinson, 11 great grandchildren, siblings, Martha Klassen, Carmel Manitoba, Dave (Freda) Zacharias, Altona, Manitoba, Edwin Zacharias and Ruth Hienrichs, both of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Preceding her in death were her parents, sisters, Marie Taylor and Helen Fehr.
