Andrew C. Hiebert, 97, of Walhalla, ND passed away Friday, March 27, 2015, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Memorial service will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 1st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND. Burial will be held in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Pembilier Nursing Center in Walhalla.
Andrew was born November 5, 1917 at Alsen, ND to Frank and Carrie (Albrecht) Hiebert. He grew up in the Alsen area. Andy served with the U.S. Army 164th Mortar Platoon during World War II. After his discharge from the service he returned to Leroy, ND and married Dora M. Cavalier on June 6, 1946. Andy worked for area farmers and at Motor Coach Industries in Pembina, until his retirement. Dora passed away February 19, 2001.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, telling stories, and gardening. After entering the Pembilier Nursing Center in July of 2009, he enjoyed bingo and all the activities in the activities department. He was a member of the Bartlette-Resler American Legion Post #62 and the V.F.W.
Survivors include his sons: Larry (Tammy) Gray Court, SC, Charles, Jefferson City, MO, Stacy (Lorna) and Jeff, all of Walhalla; daughters: Corinne Hiebert, Kansas City, MO, Sherry Hiebert, Orland, CA, Shelley Hiebert, Killeen, TX; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings: Eugene Hiebert, in California and Alice Hieggelke, Lisbon, ND
Also preceding him in death were his parents; sons: Richard, Raymond, Frankie; daughter, Sandra Bond; siblings: Ed Hiebert and Josephine Carpenter.
