Amelia F. Collins, 90, of Grand Forks and formerly of Hamilton, ND died Saturday, September 11, 2010, at Parkwood Place in Grand Forks. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation on Tuesday, September 14th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, St. Thomas, ND. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Altru Hospice, P.O. Box 6011, Grand Forks, ND 58206.
Amelia Franziska Galle was born November 27, 1919, in the village of Unterrussenried, Germany. She immigrated with her family to Park River, ND in 1928.
She married Joseph R. Collins, they settled and farmed in the Hamilton area until 1973. Like all wives of farm families she was no stranger to hard work and was a prominent fixture on "her" combine during the harvest season. Joseph passed away in May of 1989. In 1991, she moved off the farm and resettled in Grand Forks.
She was a member of the Altar Society in St. Thomas, ND and St. Mary's in Grand Forks. Also a long-standing member of 50 years in the Catholic Daughters of America.
Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, knitting and quilting. Amelia was a perennial winner of awards for her submissions of flowers at the Pembina County Fair in Hamilton and was also an accomplished bowler with several trophies under her belt. She would also be seen at many of the Cavalier High School and University of North Dakota sporting events.
Survivors include her sons, Francis (Marylyn) Collins, Englewood, FL and Larry (Gerri) Collins, Hamilton; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and brother, Gebhard (Jean) Galle, Stevenson, WA.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Casket Bearers: Brent Collins, Mark Collins, Gabe Galle, Troy Scharmer, Bill Staples, and Toni Walser.
