Alma Mathison, 93, of Walhalla, ND passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla ND. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 6th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 6:40 p.m. rosary service and a 7:00 p.m.vigil service at the church. Burial will be held in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Boniface Cemetery, or the Pembilier Nursing Center.
Alma was born September 3, 1921 to Fred and Juliette (Dumas) Verville. In 1940, she married Elmer Lischefske and to this union five children were born, Trudy, Judith, Linda, Sheila and Fred. Elmer passed away January 13, 1952. She then married James Mathison in 1964, and he passed away on December 9, 1990.
She will always be remembered as a loving mom, sister, grandmother, and aunt. Alma was an active member of the Degree of Honor, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Walhalla Brush Bunch.
Survivors include her children: Trudy Leigh, Judith (John) Shahane, and Fred (Kathy) Lischefske; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; step-children: Merle (Betty) Mathison and Arden (Kathy) Mathison; 11 step-grandchildren; 24 step-great-grandchildren; eight step-great-great grandchildren; her siblings: Leo Verville, Leona Hovenden, Raymond "Pete" (Roberta) Verville, Ella (Dick) Corbit, Jean Corbit, Idamae Campbell, Donna Clairmont, Marjorie Johnson, Deloria Longtin, Wayne Verville, Gary (Patricia) Verville; sister-in-law, Deloris Mathison; and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; daughters: Linda Lischefske and Sheila Johannesson; grandson, Daniel Allmann; step-daughter, Marlo Thompson; and sisters: Yvonne Lee and Dianna White.
