Alice Paulson

Alice Victoria Paulson, 86, of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Mountain, N.D., passed away on Tuesday, December 26th, 2006 at home surrounded by her family.

Alice was born in Vang, ND on April 17th, 1920 to Carl and Josephine (Stokke) Dahlvang. She was the ninth child of a family of eleven. She attended a country school close to Vang, ND. In 1938, she married Norris “Mudgie” Cuffe in Grand Forks, ND. Alice and Mudgie had six children; Richard, Gwendolyn, Kendall, Dale, Sharon, and Carolee. They raised their children in Olga, ND, where Alice was a homemaker and Mudgie farmed and worked construction. Mudgie passed away in 1970.

Alice remarried Beverly Paulson on December 27th, 1973 in Olga, ND. She moved to a farm in Mountain, ND with Beverly. Alice was a member of the United Lutheran Church. She was also very active in many clubs and organizations in the community. She volunteered much of her time to help others. She also worked at Borg Home in Mountain, ND.

Alice will be remembered for her nurturing spirit. She loved taking care of her family and friends. Her door was always open for those who wanted a “treat” or a great conversation. Alice was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Alice is survived by her husband, Beverly; her children: Richard Cuffe, Olga, ND; Gwendolyn (Ed) Kurtz, Olalla, WA; Kendall (Jeannie) Cuffe, Kent, WA; Dale Cuffe, Grand Forks, ND; Sharon (Fidel) Galindo, Grand Forks, ND; and Carolee Cuffe, Grand Forks, ND; step-daughter, Fran Frazier, Fort Pierce, FL; 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; her sisters Doris (Stuart) McDonald, Langdon, ND, and Lenora Reid, Peuyallup, WA.

She was preceded in death by her great grandchild, Dana, an infant great-great grandchild, seven sisters, Clara, Emma, Ella, Irene, Belma, Viola, and Ruby; her brother, Jon, and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent North Dakota Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Alice Paulson.

Services will be held, December 29th at 1:30 p.m. at Vikur Lutheran Church in Mountain, ND. Visitation will begin one hour before the service.
