Alice Dick, 81, formerly of Munich, ND passed away Tuesday February 5, 2008 at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.
Alice Janzen was born March 30, 1926 to Hank and Elizabeth (Fast) Janzen. She attended school at Clyde, ND and went on to the Bethany Bible School in Munich, ND. Alice and Samuel Dick were united in marriage on October 11, 1946 at the Salem Mennonite Church of Munich, ND. They first lived on the Nelson farm near Munich and after one year settled into their home 4 ÃË miles south and one mile east of Munich where they raised 12 children. Alice had quite a large garden and did a lot of canning. She also sewed many special outfits and quilts for her children. The family was active in the Salem Mennonite Church where Alice taught Sunday School and was active in the ladies group and was instrumental in bringing Special Education to Cavalier County. After raising her family, Alice drove school bus for 20 years and worked within the school system. She particularly enjoyed driving to, and watching, the sporting events.
Alice is survived by her children: Ronald P. (Darlene) Dick of Munich, ND; Robert (Judy) Dick of Denver, CO; Kenneth (Dogmar) Dick of Germany; Gary (Sally) Dick of Ypsilanti, ND; Verlin Dick of Minnesota; Dennis (Kathy) Dick of Omaha; Thomas (Jan) Dick of Fargo, ND; Helen (Rick) Barta of McCanna, ND; Deborah (Nels) Nelson of Astoria, OR; Jeanette (Larry) Melton of California; Beverly Dick of Honolulu, HI and Joyce Dick of Honolulu, HI, 26 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, sisters: Leona (Arnold) Heppner of Alsen, ND; Betty (David) Unruh of Houston, TX, brothers: Orville (Bernice) Janzen of Denver, CO, Orlando (Mame) Janzen of Enid, OK, sister-in-law June Janzen of Rapid City, SD and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sam, granddaughter Samantha and brother Arnold.
VISITATION will begin at 5:00pm and there will be a 7:00pm Prayer Service all at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND on Friday February 8, 2008.
Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of the services at the church on Saturday.
SERVICES will take place at 10:00am on Saturday February 9, 2008 at the Salem Mennonite Church of Munich, ND.
INTERMENT East Salem Cemetery, rural Munich, ND.
