Albert Menke

Albert Menke, age 87, of Neche, ND, died Sunday, August 2, 2009, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 5th at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, Neche, ND. Visitation Tuesday, August 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home. Visitation also at the church for one hour time before the services. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery, Cavalier, ND.
Albert was born May 20, 1922, to Adam and Ottila (Stegman) Menke at Neche, ND. He grew up and attended school at Neche, where he farmed his entire life.
On November 30, 1945, he married Edith Kuehner, at Christ Lutheran Church, Neche, ND. After his retirement they moved into Neche.
He enjoyed spending time with his girls and family. Albert was an active life long member of Christ Lutheran, serving as deacon, on the church board, and member of the church choir.
Survivors include his wife, Edith; daughters, Diann (Larry) Guenther, Bozeman, MT, Judy (Larry) Grube, Pembina, ND, Conni (David) Nordenstrom, Forest Lake, MN; grandchildren, Marni Elhard and Dawn (Brian) Berger, all of Bozeman, MT, Lane (Mariah) Guenther, Soap Lake, WA, Jeni (Shane) Carrier, Neche, ND, and Rachel Nordenstrom, Forest Lake, MN; eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Anna (Norman) Grindeland, Mayville, ND, Lenora Olson, Langdon, ND, and brother, Arni (Sharon) Stegman, Grand Forks, ND.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and sister, Amy Tennison.

Casket Bearers: Shane Carrier, Lane Guenther, Fredrick Lembke, James Lembke, David Quaife, and Ray Wilson.
