Adeline Skjerva, 95, of Langdon, ND passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.
Adeline was born September 20, 1917 in Gordon Township, ND to Jacob and Anna (Bartel) Spenst. After graduating high school, Adeline worked for Braniff Airlines as a radio operator. She lived in Fargo, ND and Kansas City, MO for a short period of time before moving back home to help the family after her brother, Johnie, passed away. Adeline was united in marriage to Norton Skjerva on December 6, 1943 at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Alsen, ND, and together, they welcomed three children.
Adeline and Norton made their home on the farm where she was a homemaker and a very hard worker. She was very active in her church and with the Ladies Aid. Adeline enjoyed spending her winters in California with her sister after Norton passed away in 1989.
Adeline is survived by her daughters: Faith Knight of Phoenix, AZ and Joy Lapos of New York Mills, MN; grandchildren: Sarah Greenwold and Joshua (Carrie) Lapos; great-grandchildren: Zachery and Miles Lapos; and sister, Leona of Fort Erie, Ontario.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norton, son Neil and sons-in-law: Bob Schue, Lee Knight, and James Lapos.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 5 to 7PM at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.
Services will be held Friday, August 23, 2013 at 2:00PM at the Maple Manor Care Center Chapel of Langdon, ND.
